About the role
Reporting to the CFO, this exciting role is exposed to all aspects of business finance, accounting and compliance, working alongside the transactional accounts team and requiring a strong focus on customers and service excellence. Key to success in the role will be the ability to identify and capture opportunities to streamline and improve the quality and effectiveness of the systems, processes and services delivered, partnering with operations to support business growth and improved results.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare accurate, compliant and timely business information for key external obligations including annual Financial Statements, BAS returns, Taxable Payments, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation, FBT returns and insurance renewals
- Prepare annual operating budgets, monthly performance reports and forecast updates, including the investigation and analysis of performance variances
- Manage the month-end and year-end financial processes, completing tasks including posting of GL journals, cost allocations, prepayments and accrual entries
- Maintain the General Ledger including Balance Sheet reconciliations, investigation of differences and changes to the Chart of Accounts in response to new business requirements, organization changes and/or compliance obligations
- Provide analysis and insights to optimize financial outcomes for the business including tender pricing, investment business cases, annual service fee reviews and project profitability analysis
- Closely partner with operational managers and teams providing relevant project accounting and cost data to improve their financial knowledge and skills in managing their budgets for improved results
- Maintain and optimize financial system functionality and key interfaces to work management systems
- Identify opportunities and implement changes to streamline or enhance financial services (processes, procedures, policies, systems, controls)

Skills and experience
The following qualifications and experience are sought for this role:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting
- CPA or CA status
- Right to work in Australia
- 3-5 years relevant working experience in a senior accounting or financial role
- Proficient in MS Excel and MYOB
- Experienced in preparing and presenting accurate, compliant financial information and returns
- Experience in presenting business information to Boards, Executive or Senior Management
- Ability to identify improvement opportunities and provide information and insights to support informed business decision-making
