The Electrical Draftsperson is responsible for producing electrical infrastructure plans for design and construction activities predominantly for our portfolio of NSW Electrical Utility Design projects. This role reports into the Engineering Services Manager and is situated within Powerplant’s Engineering Services team, covering design and drafting across Powerplant’s URD, Electrical Utility Distribution and Public Lighting portfolio of projects across Victoria and NSW.

The Electrical Draftsperson will support a team of Project Engineers to produce detailed electrical network designs, working in conjunction with NSW distribution network authorities to obtain a timely review and approval of their work. The Electrical Draftsperson will be accountable for producing electrical plans that are fully compliant with network authority technical drafting standards, therefore, familiarity with ASP3 design process and drafting standards will be highly regarded.

The position will support the business to produce results that are responsive, accurate, and compliant with all standards and regulations.

The position requires a minimum of three (3) days per week working from our office in order to foster teamwork and collaboration across the NSW team’s portfolio of projects. As a member of the Engineering Services team, you are required to lead by example and demonstrate the Powerplant values of People, Performance and Pride in everything that you do.

 

Specific job requirements include:

  • Extensive knowledge and highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD (highly regarded),
  • Ability to create and implement AutoCAD LISP functions and dynamic blocks,
  • At least 2 years of experience in ASP3 drafting of electrical concept and detailed design drawings to the standards required of NSW electrical utility network operators (Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy)
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of Electrical Design and concepts,
  • Ability to work efficiently autonomously and within the team environment,
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work within project target dates,
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface with a variety of tasks on variety of stakeholders,
  • Use of NSW electrical utility network operators GIS systems,
  • Complete site visit with designers.
  • Experience in NSW distribution industry is highly desirable,
  • Well-developed communication and documentation skills,
  • Ability to understand the drafting standards of the NSW electrical utility supply industry
