Earthing System Design

Our specialised design experience covers earthing system design at all levels from 11kV to 500kV for electrical utility, generation and renewables sectors. We can deliver tailored and cost-effective earthing design to meet safety and regulatory requirements using industry-leading software, CDEGS.

Low Frequency Induction (LFI), Earth Potential Rise (EPR) and Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) Studies

We have a unique set of capabilities in conducting EPR and LFI studies for gas and water utility companies, along with in-house designing and implementation of mitigation measures for corrosion control on pipelines.

We have an experienced team of engineers and technicians who can assess and perform EPR and LFI studies and suggest/implement mitigation measures to reduce the hazardous voltages present on pipelines to an acceptable level.

Earthing System Testing

We provide comprehensive testing and inspection services to ensure that earthing systems are performing as they should. Our experienced engineers, tested methods, and leading tools produce high-quality test data to get the actual representation of the performance and safety of any high voltage asset. Our testing capabilities include:

  • 4-Probe Wenner Method soil resistivity testing for a small to large site AEMC Model 6471.
  • 4-Probe earth continuity test and visual inspection.
  • Current distribution in cable screens and overhead earth wires.
  • Low current off-frequency Current Injection Testing (CIT).
  • Fall of potential testing.

Equipment and Software

  • We own and use industry-wide leading test equipment and software:
  • CDEGS software by SES Tech with all available modules.
  • Streets Distribution Designer software by Safearth.
  • AEMC Model 6471 and Fluke 1625 ground resistance tester.
  • Red-phase current injection test set.
